Gainesville Fire-Rescue recipient of the 2025 Ed Wright Community Service Award for Cooke County
In April, 2025 North Central Texas College 2025 NCTC Foundation Starlite Gala honored Gainesville Fire-Rescue with the 2025 Ed Wright Community Service Award for Cooke County.
“It’s my honor to present the 2025 Cooke County Community Service Award. This distinguished recognition goes to an agency this year whose commitment to service extends far beyond firefighting. Through volunteerism and outreach, they strengthen community connections and make a lasting impact. Their efforts include organizing food and blood drives, mentoring programs and community events, exemplify the true spirit of giving. In partnership with local non-profits, including VISTO, they lead one of Cooke County’s largest food drives, ensuring families in need receive holiday meals. They also support children by delivering Christmas gifts and participating in the Bus Buddies program at the Boys and Girls Club, raising awareness of child abuse and serving Thanksgiving meals. Through collaboration with the Cooke County United Way, they contribute to community initiatives, host blood drives as part of the Blood Emergency Readiness Corps, and participate in “Our Night to Shine”, a prom for individuals with special needs.
Their dedication extends to fundraising for breast cancer charities and involvement in the Medal of Honor Host City program. Beyond these efforts, they actively promote fire safety with youth programs in the Gainesville ISD and serve as role models for the next generation. It’s with great honor that I present the 2025 Ed Wright Community Service Award to our heroes, the Gainesville Fire Department.” -NCTC Foundation Executive Vice President
