Barry Sullivan, City Manager, CPM, MA

Barry Sullivan comes to Gainesville after serving as the assistant City Manager in Hewitt, Texas for six years, and prior to that he was the City Administrator for Presidio, Texas. He also worked as a Policy Fellow for the Public Policy Research Center and a lecturer at the University of Texas at El Paso.

Barry earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Political Science from the University of Texas at El Paso. Barry furthered his education by graduating from the Utility Management Institute at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio and becoming a Certified Public Manager through Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. Barry has also earned a Black Belt in Lean Sigma. Black belts lead problem-solving projects, understand how to preform and interpret Six Sigma tools and how to use standard principles of Lean.

Barry is a member of the Texas City Management Association and served as the Secretary-Treasurer for the Texas City Management Association Region Seven. Barry is married to Erica Sullivan, whom works for the City of Denton Economic Development. Barry enjoys traveling, camping, hiking, hunting, and scuba diving.
