Zoo Rules

THANK YOU FOR VISITING OUR ANIMAL FAMILY’S HOME.
PLEASE RESPECT THEIR HOME BY OBSERVING THE FOLLOWING RULES.

  • Walk.  Do not run through the zoo.  Running startles prey animals and excites predator species, causing them to become a danger to themselves and others.
  • Leave bikes, roller-blades, scooters, skateboards, trikes and other recreational items outside the zoo.
These items startle prey animals and excite predator species, causing them to become a danger to themselves and others.
  • Leave your pets at home.  Pets may startle prey animals and excite predator species, causing them to become a danger to themselves and others.
  • Do not bring straws, glass, plastic bags, or balloons into the zoo.  If these items are dropped into animals’ homes they may be eaten, causing the animal to become ill.  Remove disposable straws and lids from any drink before entering the zoo.
  • Do not bring food into the zoo to feed the animals.  The animals are on special diets to ensure their optimal health.  Feed vending is available for the goats at the farmyard area.  For the animals’ health, when that feed runs out for the day, it will not be refilled.  Scheduled animal feeding opportunities and encounters are available seasonally with giraffe, flamingo and more.  Inquire about availability at admissions.
  • Leonard Park and Frank Buck Zoo are tobacco free facilities.  Cigarette butts dropped into animals’ homes may be eaten, causing the animals to become ill.
  • For your safety, stay on the paved pathways.  Guard rails are in place to keep visitors at a safe and comfortable distance from the animals in their homes.
  • Do not bring selfie sticks into the zoo.  Selfie sticks lifted over or through fences may startle prey animals and excite predator species, causing them to become a danger to themselves and others.
  • Do not bring drones, kites, balls or Frisbees into the zoo.  Objects flying through the air may startle prey animals and excite predator species, causing them to become a danger to themselves and others.
  • If you encounter an Animal Care staffer conducting an interpretive chat at an animal habitat or with an Animal Ambassador, please stop to visit and ask questions.
  • If there is a scheduled program taking place in the zoo amphitheater, please pass by quietly.  These are prescheduled and prepaid programs.  For information about booking programs, please visit Frank Buck Zoo School Field Trips & Programs.
