Sex Offenders
Who Must Register?
Convicted sex offenders are required to register with local law enforcement in the jurisdiction where they live. The names and addresses of sex offenders who register with the Gainesville Police Department are provided to the Texas Department of Public Safety, which maintains a public database of names, crimes and addresses.
During registration the offender must provide information that includes, but is not limited to, name and address, a color photograph, and the offense for which he / she was convicted or adjudicated. Registered sex offenders are required to periodically report to the Gainesville Police Department to verify the accuracy of their registration information and to promptly report certain changes in the information as those changes occur. A sex offender who fails to comply with any registration requirement is subject to felony prosecution.
You may search by offender name, city and zip code of registration, or by name and city / zip code. The ZIP code for which offenders are registered in the city limits of Gainesville is 76240.
