Cooke County COVID-19 Testing Update
Two Day Mobile Testing Center Announced
Gainesville, Texas – May 25, 2020 - The Cooke County Unified Command (CCUC) in response to the coronavirus pandemic continues to make progress in testing for COVID-19 in Cooke County. To date, 922 tests have been performed, with 15 positive cases and no fatalities in Cooke County.
The Texas Division of Emergency Management and National Guard Mobile Test Team will be onsite at the drive up testing location at North Texas Medical Center, 1900 Hospital Boulevard on Thursday, May 28th and Friday, May 29th from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on both days. To access the testing site, you must enter off of Old Sivells Bend Road. A call center number will be released the days prior to testing (Wednesday, May 27 for appointments on Thursday, May 28) and (Thursday, May 28 for appointments on Friday, May 29). The number will be posted on the Cooke County Pandemic Information Facebook page. A maximum of 100 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) nasal swab tests per day will be administered. The call center will do a phone evaluation at the time the appointment is scheduled to determine if testing is necessary and provide all direction to the caller. You will be screened for any of the following symptoms:
Fever and/or chills
Cough (dry or productive)
Fatigue
Body aches/muscle or joint pain
Shortness of breath
Sore throat
Headaches
Nausea/vomiting/diarrhea
Nasal congestion
Loss of taste and/or smell
There is no charge for this test and they are available for any resident whether you live in Cooke County or not as long as you meet the screening criteria. A positive result does not change the overall recommendations for local citizens who are advised to follow the recommended guidelines of local and state authorities and the CDC.
