General Covid policies

is frank buck zoo open?

We are open daily from 10-4, with the last ticket sold at 3:30 PM. In the event of flooding or ice on the overhead walkway, we may open late or close for the day. Check our Facebook for immediate updates. We are closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. (The Frank Buck Zoo did close in March-April of 2020, but has reopened and is open daily.)

Masks are not required to enter the zoo; however, you may wear one if you wish. Masks are required for some add-on encounters, such as giraffe encounter and flamingo feeding.

We do not currently have a capacity limit in the zoo, so you can visit any day. However, you may be asked to wait outside the Gift Shop if the Gift Shop exceeds capacity.

Admission Pre-Sale Online

We do not pre-sale tickets online; admission is on a first-come, first-serve basis at our ticket window.

Giraffe Encounter

Masks are required for every giraffe encounter participant, no matter the age. Anyone wishing to enter the giraffe encounter deck must purchase giraffe encounter and wear a mask.

Birthday Parties

Masks are not required for birthday parties. During the small animal encounter at the birthday party, there may be an opportunity to get to touch some animals; in order to touch the Animal Ambassadors, you must wear a mask. If your group chooses to skip touching, you do not need to wear a mask.

School Programs in the Amphitheater

We may have opportunities for students to volunteer to come down to see animals up close during school programs in the amphitheater. Those students will be required to wear a mask in order to participate. We will be in touch with a chaperone in your group to ask about your group before we begin the program.
