The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded their Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the City of Gainesville’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for fiscal year 2010. This was the twentieth year that the City has received this prestigious award. In order to be awarded a Certificate of Achievement, a municipality must publish an easily readable and efficiently organized CAFR. The 2011 CAFR has recently been submitted for this award and we believe that it continues to meet the Certificate of Achievement Program’s high standards to receive the award again.

In addition to the Certificate of Achievement award, the City has also received GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its fiscal years 2010 and 2011 annual budget documents. In order to qualify for this award, the City’s budget document must be proficient as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device. The 2012 budget document has been submitted and we believe it meets the requirements to receive another award.
