The City of Gainesville has a Design Review Committee (DRC) whose purpose is to review new commercial projects.

The DRC  is  composed of the Community Services Director, Fire Chief, Fire Marshall, Director of Public Services, Chief of Police, and Director of General Services, and any other relevant staff required to review your project.

The following issues will be addressed at DRC meetings:

    1. Site plan of project
    2. Storm water drainage ordinance of plan and calculations .
    3. Location and size of water and sewer lines.
    4. Fire hydrants and fire lanes.
    5. Streets and sidewalks.
    6. Zoning ordinance and subdivision ordinance issues.
    7. Floodplain ordinanceand sign code ordinance issues.
    8. Electrical service and site lighting.
    9. Landscaping and dumpster locations.
    10. TXDOT approach permits.
    11. Historical, archeological or wetlands impact.
    12. TCEQ permits.
    13. Health Code or ADA issues.
    14. Any miscellaneous related issues.

DRC meetings shall be scheduled on the first and third Monday's of each month at 9:00 am. They shall be held in the Emergency Operations Center at the Public Safety Building located at 201 Sante Fe Street. A DRC meeting is scheduled only when the project design package is substantially complete.
