The City of Gainesville employs four Code Enforcement Officers. These officers work to maintain the integrity and safety of commercial and residential property in Gainesville.

The Code Enforcement Division conducts various inspections on a daily basis. General violations include high grass and weeds, trash, junk, or inoperative vehicles. 

Note *Unlawful garage sale signs and other types of signs are impounded by Code Enforcement Officers. 

City of Gainesville Code Enforcement goals are: 


  • Prevent the development of hazardous conditions.
  • Prevent deterioration of buildings.
  • Protect the environment and preserve the aesthetic character of neighborhoods.
  • Secure the health, safety and welfare of those living in Gainesville


Animal control complaints are handled by Animal Control Officers assigned to the Police Department. Phone Number 940-668-7777.

Oversized vehicles parked in yards or in the street and vehicles parked on the grass are handled by the Police Deparment. Phone Number 940-668-7777.
