The newest park in the City of Gainesville is Keneteso Park. This park sits on the southern city limits on Weaver Street in southwest Gainesville. The park is classified as a community park / special purpose park and consists of 84 acres. Keneteso Park was constructed in 1998. The park consists of 12 semi-automated irrigated soccer fields, two drinking fountains, six portable toilets, and a 450-space parking lot. Gainesville's Public Works department cleared, leveled, and seeded 45 of the 84 acres. A $55,000 grant obtained through our Wastewater Department for a gray water irrigation system helped to finance this project. Two soccer associations comprised of two thousand (2000) athletes use Keneteso Park in the spring and fall.

A unique aspect of the Park is a two-acre pond that provides public fishing to park visitors. An annual Kid Fish Fest, hosted by the Parks & Recreation Department and sponsored by our local businesses is held every January.
