Edison Park

Located in northeast, central Gainesville on the corner of Broadway and Elmwood Streets, Edison Park consists of 4 acres and is classified as a neighborhood park. Thirteen acres are currently being used at this site; however, nine acres will be lost when the Fairview Cemetry expands. The park includes two picnic tables, one grill, two swing-sets, and one merry-go-round.

In 2006, the staff for the Parks and Recreation and the Street Departments constructed an outdoor basketball court with donated funds and volunteer labor.

The remaining nine acres are composed of one adult soccer field on natural grass, two adult softball fields, and one youth baseball field. The athletic area is comprised of four bleachers, equipment boxes, and a water fountain.

The Parks and Recreation Department would like to thank Joe Shell Concrete Company, Gainesville Optimist Club, and the Gainesville Kiwanis Club, for their volunteered time and donations for without them, the two basketball courts would have not been possible.
