Hosted by the Gainesville Parks and Recreation Department, this annual Trout Fishing event, held in January, is for the youth ages 16 and under. The Parks and Recreation department stocks the Keneteso Park Pond with over 2700 trout so that youth in Gainesville and the surrounding cities have the chance to experience hands on fishing. This event is absolutely free to youth participants.

The kids furnish their own fishing pole and bait (canned corn, marshmallows, or bright colors have been successful in the past.) Volunteers from the Gainesville Bass Club and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department are on hand to assist the child to catch the fish stocked for this event.
