Wedding Walk About - First Saturday in February
Gainesville Main Street and the Downtown Development Wedding Walk Walk About - Downtown merchants help brides to be and couples with planning ideas for the approaching wedding. Merchants that are not in the downtown Main Street Heritage Overlay District can exhibit their services as a partnership with downtown merchants.
Spring Fling - First full weekend in May
Gainesville Main Street partners with the Gainesville Chamber Rodeo, Gainesville Parks & Recreation Department, and the Frank Buck Zoo to being a fun filled three-day event to the downtown, Leonard Park, the Frank Buck Zoo and the Gainesville Rodeo Arena. Parades, downtown street dance, chuckwagon cookoff, Wild West events, cattle dog exhibitions and rodeo sanctioned by the UPRA.
Customer Appreciation Day - Last Saturday in June
Gainesville Main Street and the Downtown Development hosts Customer Appreciation day. Special sales and prizes throughout the day.
Depot Day - Second Saturday in October-
Gainesville Main Street Depot Day Festival - Downtown Courthouse Square - 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Arts and craft booths, food vendors, Antique Car Show, kid zone with inflatables, petting zoo, pony rides, clowns, live entertainment. Main Street sponsored fish fry and outdoor concert at "After Dark Party" from 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Late Night Shopping - First Thursday after Thanksgiving
Late Night Christmas Shopping until 9:00 p.m. beginning on the first Thursday after Thanksgiving.
Festival of Trees - First Saturday in December
Festival of Trees merchants and organizations decorate Christmas trees to best reflect their business / organization. The trees are dsiplayed in the Historic Restored Cooke County Courthouse during the month of December. The trees are voted on by placing a dollar per vote in ballot boxes. First and second place trees are determined by most votes received and receive monetary prize for their organization.
Victorian Stroll - Second Weekend in December-
Gainesville Main Street and Downtown Development partner for the three-day event beginning on Thursday and ending on Saturday for the Victorian Stroll. Late night shopping all three days live nativity, wandering carolers in costume, carriage rides, Christmas treats provided by merchants including cookies and hot chocolate, and popcorn are just a few of the extras provided by the downtown merchants.
Tour of Historic Homes - December
Historic South Gainesville hosts a Tour of Homes each December. Each Christmas season features up to six of the homes in historic south Gainesville. Trolley rides are available through the historic neighborhood and the downtown during the event. Catch the trolley from the Morton Museum of Cooke County to the home sites and the downtown.
The Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce has recetly acquired the use of a lovely little trolley to shuttle guests and locals around the town. The trolley makes stops at the historic Santa Fe Depot to pick up Amtrak visitors, travels through the historic South Gainesville homes, and makes regualr stops in downtown, local hotels, Leonard Park, and the Frank Buck Zoo. Fee is minimal $1.00 per trip. The trolley is also available for rent for special events. Call 940-665-2831 for reservations and/or more information. |
