Storm Water Drainage Consideration

ALL new commercial projects shall include with their plans and specifications, drainage calculations to show how they are going to handle the excess storm water created by the construction project.

In addition to the calculations, include plans for the detention pond or other means of storm water retention.  This study must be done by a competent design professional.

No building permit will be issued until such time as these drainage plans are received and approved by the Director of Public Works.

In cases involving a floodplain, City and FEMA Permits may be involved.

Water running off of the roofs of structures shall be controlled by means of roof drains or other acceptable methods.

Residential lots must be graded so that no excessive storm water runs off onto another persons property.

Drainage from roofs of structures shall be controlled by means of rain gutters or other acceptable means.

Existing lots with water problems are considered to be a civil matter between property owners.
